Khajeh Homam Alaa Tabrizi is one of the famous poets and speakers of Azerbaijan who died in 636 AH. He was born in Tabriz. He was a close friend of Khajeh Shamsuddin Joveini and one of his nobles. Homam Tabrizi had a corner in Tabriz, where he guided seekers. For some time, he was engaged in judicial affairs and even became the Minister of Azerbaijan. But these things did not stop him from spiritual affairs.
Homam Tabrizi was one of the greats of his time in literary arts such as Persian and Arabic poetry and essays, colloquialism and calligraphy. It is not known from which Sheikh Homam Tabrizi received grace in Sufism. It is known that he gained knowledge from Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi, and he was a peer of Qutb al-Din Shirazi, and he composed Qutb al-Din al-Muftah at his request. Sharaf al-Din Harun and his son Shams al-Din Saheb Divan, who died in 685 AH. He was killed by the order of Arghun, he is one of Homam's contemporaries and relatives. Homam Masnavi wrote the speech in his name.
Homam has a special devotion to Saadi and it is said that Saadi met Homam in Tabriz. Some of Homam's ghazals are based on Saadi's. Homam died in 714 AH in Tabriz. And after the death of Homam, Khajeh Rashid al-Din Fazlullah collected his scattered poems and wrote an introduction to it in Diwan 718 AH. who wrote the year of Rashid's murder. Undoubtedly, this work was done near the year 714. The Divan of Khajeh Homam has nearly two thousand verses, which includes Persian and Arabic poems in the form of verses, masnavis, odes, ghazals, and quartets.
