Hasan al-Ajam Afzaluddin Badil bin Ali Khaqani, one of the greatest poets of the Persian language and the singer of life-long and painful odes and full-length odes, was born in the year 520 AH in the city of Sharvan, north of Rudkora (Kar) in the current Republic of Azerbaijan.
